The UFMD coordinators conducted under the management of the national coordinator Ass.Prof. Tuzhyk a 4 days workshop at HSWT in Germany to further push the development of the data collection. Up to now, more than 100 gross margins on about 30 farms have been collected by 60 students and lecturers.
The analyses of the data collection process showed, that a specific challenge is the calculation of the variable mechanization costs. It was discussed and tested if data from the German KTBL* can be taken to fill this gap. It showed, that the consumption of fuel and lubricants can be transferred from KTBL to the use of modern technology in Ukraine. But a real challenge is to estimate the average repair cost.
Therefore UFMD decided to tackle this problem. One approach is to make contact with the manufacturers of agricultural machinery and discuss the topic together with them. Therefore UFMD visited the Agritechnica in Hannover, the world’s biggest exhibition of agricultural machinery with more than 2800 exhibitors, to establish first contacts with major manufacturers. UFMD contacted 14 big players of the manufacturers. The topic is difficult, but the feedback was not negative.
Therefore it is planned to conduct a workshop meeting in Kyiv in spring to get into a more detailed discussion about the calculation of repair cost. The visit of Agritechnica also was used to strengthen the contacts to KTBL.
